Safari Guide: Sis. Felecia Caruthers

What is Reading Safari?

Reading Safari is a reading incentive program designed to encourage kids ages 4 + to become lifelong readers. This highly interactive ministry is filled with crafts, games, prizes, food, fellowship, and fun! At the beginning of each year, a recognition ceremony will be held to award medals and gift cards, honoring readers at various reading levels. In January 2010, several readers were given Barnes & Nobles Gift Cards, exceeding our expectations of reading over 100 books.

How can I become a part of Reading Safari?

You can begin reading and documenting the books you read on the book tags provided in your reading list. The books you read should be age appropriate and on your reading level. Each book must be read completely to receive credit. After listing the titles of all the books you have read onto the book tags, you should have a parent or guardian sign this tag. At the monthly meeting, turn in your book tag for a prize!

How long are the monthly meetings?

Each meeting will last approximately 2 hours, normally on the 3rd Saturday of the month from 10:30-12:30. During this time, the kids participate in reading, crafts, games, book-give-a-ways, and food. A mini library is always available for the kids to check out books.
