Setting:
Upon entering the foyer, you will proceed to the auditorium. An usher will escort you to an available pew.
Singing:
Placed in the bookrack in front of you, a hymnbook is available for use during service. If the words are not displayed on the overhead screens, the song leader will provide the page number for you to join in on collective sing. We at the Churches of Christ sing solely "a cappella" meaning without instruments, based on being deeply rooted in scripture tradition. We encourage everyone to sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God (Colossians 3:16).
Prayer:
There will be several prayers during Worship Service. These prayers may be for a specific need or per request.
Preaching:
The sermon will be delivered by the preacher. He will be addressed as "brother" with his last name immediately following. If the preacher has achieved advanced academic credentials, he will then be recoginzed as "Doctor". The sermon will likely last 30-50 minutes.
Invitation:
At the close of the sermon, the preacher will "extend the invitation". During song, members and/or visitors are encouraged to come forward to request prayer, confess sin, place membership, provide a testimony, or to become saved. If anyone request to be saved, they will immediately be added to the body of Christ through baptism (water immersion) for the remission of their sins. The congregation will witness this dedication and welcome their brother or sister to the fold.
Offering:
The collection basket is passed around weekly for the financial offering. Members please ensure you place all monies in your designated envelope. Visitors, feel free to provide a financial donation to assist in furthering our mission.
Lord's Supper:
The Lord's Supper is observed on the first day of the week, Sunday, in accordance to New Testament teachings. During this memorial, plates containing unleavened bread will be passed bringing to remembrance the body of Jesus Christ. Immediately following, plates containing cups of grape juice, the "fruit of the vine" bringing to remembrance the blood of Jesus Christ.
