Introducing the Elders/Wives of the Church of Christ:
It is imperative that the Church of Christ seek to ordain leaders of the local congregations referred to as shepherds or elders and ministers. As shepherds, the leaders of a congregation are intimately involved in the lives of those given into their charge. In an extended discussion of this relationship in John 10, Jesus speaks of how the shepherd knows each of his flock by name and attends to them individually. Such a relationship entails knowing a great deal of personal information, and strictest confidentiality is presumed to be maintained by all those seeking the office of elder in the Lord's church. Therefore, a shepherd must be a desired work of the one whom is chosen.
